Relaxing by the Ocean
This afternoon we lounged on the resort property and ate lunch in our own private area overlooking the Pacific. As you can see, Laurie was enjoying all the amenities, like poolside delivery of cucumber slices for your eyes.
We sipped some wine and had a great lunch but the show took place IN the ocean. While we were eating we watched humpback whaled frolicking. A calf breached many times and the mother cow was slapping its tail constantly. Everyone around us was oohing and ahhing like us and it felt like we really were at a concert event or some such performance. And what a show it was. At one point, the mother and calf were very close to shore, maybe only 100 -150 yards offshore (it's really hard to estimate). One of the waitstaff said that this was probably as close as he'd ever seen them to shore (maybe he was just looking for a big tip!).
This photo shows the nice landscaping around private lounging areas just above the beach and the walking path I mentioned previously. The wind blew briskly for much of the time but it was welcome in the 80 degree weather.
I don't know the story but there are a couple of parrots at the resort. Their names are Ricky and Lucy, undoubtedly named after Lucille Ball and her husband. Beautiful, beautiful birds. I thought Colin and Chelsea would like to see them, so here they are...
Another view of the nice grounds during the daytime. (This is the same fountain I photographed at night.)
