Trip to Maui
As much as we all love winters in the midwest, a trip to Hawaii didn't sound too bad. Laurie's company held their annual sales award trip once again on the wonderful island of Maui. This is an incentive trip for the sales force and only the top salespeople win this award. These salespeople are the best of the best and keep Allscripts at the top of the heap so, even though there is something awkwardly extravagant about this trip in these tough economic times, there is no question that these people deserve this trip.
And I know Laurie deserves this trip because I see how hard she works every single day; yes, every single day. I may feel some guilt about being here but I cast that aside since I love it here so much.
After a long day of travel on Friday, we arrive in Maui by about 3:30pm. Not really jet-lagged but definitely tired, we relaxed on the hotel grounds and had a LATE dinner overlooking the ocean. Yes, this is the view from our room:
On the way in we had spectacular views of the island I feel like I know at least a little bit. The first photo was taken on our approach to Kahalui looking toward Haleakala. Pineapple crops can be seen below.
Here's another view of the coastline looking south generally toward Hana:
(As an aside, I picked up Obama's first book "Dreams from My Father" for the long plane ride. I'm already amazed by the story and the way he writes. Utterly fascinating read so far and it really sheds some light on why Barack is the way he is.)
