Northwestern Yellowstone
Today, while everyone else was skiing at Big Sky, Laurie, Colin and I took a nice drive into the northwestern corner of Yellowstone NP. The weather was nearly sunny as we headed south from Big Sky. In the blink of an eye, the weather became this:
You may be wondering how I took this photo while driving and it is a fair question indeed. All I can say is that I was only driving about 30 mph at the time and there were no other cars around (at least that I could see ;) )
Thankfully Laurie decided to join us on this little drive. She spotted this healthy looking coyote trotting on the ice of the Gallatin River. The coyotes can conserve much energy in the winter by traveling on these ice highways. The coyote was not far away either. Colin's 300mm lens did a nice job getting some great shots of this guy.
