June 1st - Jim Visits the Windy City

On Friday, June 1st, after a couple hours of tennis, Jim and I headed into Chicago to see a Porcupine Tree concert. With a few extra hours on our hands, we decided to check out the free Lincoln Park Zoo and to try to find a good Chicago pizza joint. The above photo was taken in the park just outside the zoo. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day.

After checking out a few of the animals at the zoo, we came upon a large statue of Ulysses S. Grant on his horse. Not sure what the significance was of the statue...

Then, we found an underground Brick House pizza place that was quite good and nice and cool too! The PTree concert was fantastic, as expected. We even managed to get seats in the center of the venue with unobstructed views of the stage. We survived the volume of the opening band who had a few good moments, especially their last song which may be best described as Santana gone metal or Latin heavy metal. That song was quite good actually but we were ready for the main attraction.
