The Moose Sequence

Near Jackson Lake in Grand Teton NP, there is an enormous wetland that visitors scan looking for moose. After we stopped to take photos of the brilliant aspens, we noticed some people peering into the willows only 50 yards away. I snuck down to a hill overlooking the willows and spotted a cow foraging but she was barely visible. I set up my tripod at this perfect vantage point and waited.

About 10 minutes later, the cow and her calf climbed up out of the willows and starting walking up the hill. The onlookers parted like the Great Sea to get out of the way! I was able to get a bunch of good shots of them climbing the hill. The calf was curious about what was going on and trotted this way and that trying to figure it out.

What a great sight this was! Colin was busy getting his photos of the aspens but luckily he turned around in time to see the pair waltzing up the hill.
