What a world we live in, eh?
We've always talked about doing this but today we made it happen!
At Big Sky there is a webcam that you can control online. We've always thought it would be cool to talk to someone on the phone while looking at them online in real time. This webcam that you can control is so cool. I check it frequently. You never know what you'll see. One morning this summer I actually saw a cow moose walk right through the base area amongst the buildings. No joke!!!
So today, I called Jim since I knew he was skiing at Big Sky today. At lunchtime, he braved the cold so that we could try to make this happen. Sure enough, there he is standing directly in front of the hut waving at the camera with his bare hand (the webcam allows you to snap a quick photo, which you can then save). This is a terrible photo but I didn't have much time to control the camera and find Jim near the base of the mountain.
Call us techie geeks but somehow I find this fun. The ability to control a video camera from 1,400 miles away and actually see someone you know is just plain cool. Next time I'll try to get a better photo than this...
Thanks, Jim, for braving the cold (about 10 degrees at the time) and indulging in this experiment!
Oh, and Jim reports that the skiing is quite good with a few inches of fresh snow overnight.
