Jackson Hole Father/Son Ski/Photography Trip
We arrived in Jackson Wednesday afternoon to beautiful sunny skies. It was cold (single digits) but it seemed fine to me! We got our luggage 45 minutes after landing (!!!) and then headed into town to check into the Wyoming Inn. Our hotel is great with a really nice lobby and breakfast area. The room itself is very spacious with a gas fireplace and a jacuzzi tub.
It's so good to be back out west and in one of my favorite places in the world, the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem. We've already seen (no surprise) hundreds of elk in the Elk Range just outside of town.
Today I saw a bald eagle perched on a dead tree about 50 yards from the road. After skiing we took a 2+ hour drive into Grand Teton National Park to look for wildlife and take some photos. Unfortunately, other than the eagle and the elk, we only saw a couple bison and we saw two trumpeter swans near the Jackson dam.
I had to show Colin one of the most famous ski runs in the country, Corbet's Couloir. It was closed thankfully so there were no temptations (haha). It was probably a 25 foot leap into the run, not for the faint of heart or weak of knee. Colin was a bit freaked out looking at it from the cliff edge.
