Thanksgiving 2007
This year, Colin made his first apple pie for our Thanksgiving meal. It was actually very good and I'm not a big fan of pie in general. Colin was, needless to say, extremely proud of himself. Nice job, Colin!

As many of you know, this year we decided to spend a couple days in Chicago at Thanksgivingtime. Not spending this holiday with family was unusual for us and instead of sitting inside and being sad about it we figured that we should try something new.
So, Laurie booked a fabulous suite for us at the W hotel on the lakeshore in downtown Chicago. Here's the awesome view we had:

View of Navy Pier from the W HotelAfter watching some of the unbelievable SEC Championship game, in which Arkansas stunned LSU, we headed into the streets of the city to see the holiday lights along the Magnificent Mile and to do a little shopping. The sidewalks were packed and it was a festive atmosphere. We tucked into a nice, warm Italian restaurant just off Michigan Avenue and had a good dinner. While waiting for a table I snapped this photo of Chelsea in her new duds. She was SO happy about it!
CJOn Saturday, Laurie went for a jog along the lakeshore while the rest of us did the sensible thing and slept in. The big event of the day was going to see 'Wicked', a Broadway play that tells an alternative tale about the witches from the Wizard of Oz. I have never seen a play of this quality and, even though I am not usually a big fan of musicals, this show was spectacular. It has been getting rave reviews and now I see why. Great storyline, very humorous, mesmerizing stage setups, and thankfully, top notch singers.
(So, now Laurie is happy because she'll be able to get me to go to another play sometime in the future.)
All in all, this Chicago excursion was a good alternative to visiting with family. At least it kept our minds off the fact that we were not with Grammy, Papa, Todd, Queenie, Larry, Doreen, David, Susan and all the kids. We really did miss seeing everyone this year but oh well... Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday.
