Obama for America

Last Friday, Laurie and I co-hosted a fundraising reception for Barack Obama in Chicago. It was an intimate affair with only about 35 or 40 people attending I think. These little fundraisers are what politicians have to do to raise money along the campaign trail. On days when he is not at a debate or rallying big crowds in Iowa or wherever, he has to spend time attending these various fundraisers.

He gave an impressive and moving little talk to the people in the room. He also took some time to answer specific questions from the crowd. I seriously was going to ask him a question about climate change but he addressed it sufficiently in his talk so I didn't ask him about it again. Then, everyone lined up for their photo op. He was very gracious with this whole rigmarole.

It does feel good to give support to someone who represents real change and who clearly knows the meaning of diplomacy. I am hopeful that one year from now we will be sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner, thankful for a successful presidential election!!
