Day 1 at Jackson Hole

So today I was to test out my knee on the slopes for the first time. After weeks of fairly diligent rehab, I knew my knee was better but I was not sure how it would feel skiing.

So far so good. The brace does not bother me at all and my knee feels very good on the groomed slopes, even at relatively high speeds. It even felt good enough to attempt some non-groomed trails and small moguls (nothing jarring). I am fairly relieved so far but we'll see what happens over the next few days. I haven't truly tested the knee on super steep stuff or big moguls (and I won't this trip). I know the quad muscles have a little more conditioning to go.

Today there was an inversion on the mountain with temps in the single digits at the base and in the 20s above 8,000 feet. So, of course we tried to stay on the upper mountain in the sun. It was absolutely beautiful weather up high. The sun softened up the packed powder slopes to a wonderful creaminess utterly impossible to describe and utterly delicious.

We skied most of the mountain today, taking 7 different lifts!! We started out on the easier intermediate slopes and worked our way south from Apres Vous to Casper/Gondola to Thunder Quad to Sublette and finally East Ridge Chair (the new one that gets you to the summit and Rendezvous Bowl and Corbet's).

Here's proof that my right knee was feeling good!
