More Teton Adventures

Colin and I had another good day on the slopes at Jackson Hole. It was much like yesterday but less sun and warmer. Go figure.

We're waiting for a snow storm to hit and it has just started snowing here. They were originally calling for 10 to 20 inches but I think the storm has been downgraded now. We'll see. Storms in these big mountains are so difficult to predict. Any snow will make skiing tomorrow great.

After skiing we headed into Grand Teton NP again to look for wildlife. The skies weren't as magnificent as yesterday but we had a great experience nonetheless. We took a couple back roads on the east side of the park (Colin had been here this summer for his camp). Lo and behold we saw our first moose of the trip near the turnoff to Gros Ventre Road. A few miles further down the road we saw three more standing about 50 yards from the road. I think they were bulls who had lost their antlers. They were big!!! Then, a mile or so further down the road we saw a 5th lying down in a drainage area. This one was even closer to the road, maybe 30 yards or so. Colin took many photos (not downloaded yet).

To make this drive even more unbelievable, we came around the next bend and saw a herd of 6 more!! That makes 11! We saw at least one more after that and possibly several more (lying down with ears exposed). I'd like to learn more about what's going on here but whatever the explanation it was an amazing little drive. I'll try to get a couple of Colin's photos uploaded here soon.
