West Dry Creek Road - The Home Stretch

After lunch, Jim took Ann's bike while Ann drove the car back into town with Mom and Dad. Time was running late now and we had to return the bikes by 5:15pm in Healdsburg. We rode west on Yoakim Bridge Road to West Dry Creek Road. Riding on West Dry Creek Road, you get a great perspective on Dry Creek Valley with sprawling views of the small valley and its picturesque vineyards. The narrow, paved road winds back and forth and up and down gentle hills on the western edge of the valley. We passed by countless vineyards and wineries including Raymond Burr, Quivira, Rafanelli (next time we shall meet!), and Everett Ridge.

Looking at our watches, we decided we had time for a quick visit to Lambert Bridge Winery. The building here had nice architecture that we all felt would work nicely in Montana. The tasting room was very busy as patrons tried to get their last tastings of the day.

But, we must not linger. For the last several miles, Jim and I pedaled hard to get back to Healdsburg. After entering the town, I had to ride two more miles northward to the van that we had left at Simi. It felt good to crank on the pedals a bit and elevate the heart rate. Goodness knows that I needed to burn a few calories after all the good food and drink of the past few days.

Thankfully, Ann, Mom and Dad took care of mailing the wine at the UPS Store in town. After returning all four bikes to Wine Country Bikes, we met up at the crazy candy shop in town to enjoy a final creamy gelato.

And then, sadly we had to bid farewell to this nice town of Healdsburg. :(

Til next time...
