Boulder Sunrise

Colin pushed for another early morning wake up call for Sunday morning. We woke in the blackness at about 5:30am only to find out that sunrise was at 6:53am, not 5:53am. Apparently he looked at a website that didn't convert for daylight savings time? That's the only thing I could figure.

Oh well, we were up now. So I brewed some coffee and decided to start the day early. Laurie was already up for a 5am work call (!!!) so she joined us on our quick ride south of town to an overlook of the magnificent geologic uplift known as the flatirons. We had taken many morning photos from close to the irons but Colin wanted a bigger panorama. I had seen the views from this lookout on one of my bike rides and knew where to go.

The lack of clouds makes the photo a bit less interesting but you get the idea of how awesome these mountains, er, foothills are.

After this quick morning trip, Laurie and I went for a 21-mile bike ride north of Boulder. I'm trying to convince her that she needs to get into road biking too. We rented a nice road bike from a local shop and we rode three days in a row (50+ miles in total). I think Laurie may have caught some of the biking bug because we had 3 really nice rides.

Doesn't she look happy?!?!

This photo was from the previous day's ride with Colin:
