More Lower Falls

Despite the good cardiovascular workout from Uncle Tom's Trail, we decided (for the sake of time) to drive to Artist Point for another view of the falls. From Artist Point you see the most famous view of the Grand Canyon and the Lower Falls. Thomas Moran's painting from this location helped inspire Congress to make this place the world's first national park in 1872.

I feel a little bit of pride at Artist Point too because the Yellowstone Park Foundation raised millions of dollars to help reconstruct the walkways, retaining walls and parking areas here. The condition of this highly visited Yellowstone attraction was quite poor before this work was done. Now, it is a great stop along the canyon, safe for millions and millions of visitors to come.

The Classic View of Lower Falls

After visiting Norris and Lower Falls, it was time to view more wildlife in the park. It was on to the Hayden Valley, one of the more picturesque places in the park renowned for its wildlife.
