Goldeneyes

So the river otters went to their den to rest for a while. We had to rely on the greatest lesson of the week. Patience. Colin, Bill, Tom, Bob and I waited for a long time on the shoreline near their den. We looked around at the beautiful scene and explored the area a little bit. Wildflowers were omnipresent, cutthroat trout were spawning and goldeneye ducks were paddling gently on the lake.

Tom saw an opportunity to take some nice photos of these pretty birds as two of them crawled onto a nearby log. We crept stealthily along the shoreline so as not to disturb them. We found a nice little spot at the shore's edge to set up our tripods. The lighting on the water was perfect and I managed to snap a few good ones I think.

While we were watching the ducks, the river otters re-emerged from their den and began swimming toward us!!!! We just happened to be in the perfect location for more river otter photography. Serendipity!
