Blackhawks Game
It has been a really long time since I've seen a professional hockey game...too long actually. Someone Laurie works with gave Colin 4 tickets for his birthday to this game on February 17th. The seats were primo, in the 9th row between the red and blue lines!! What a great gift this was!
The game was at noon and we had no difficulty driving to the game and getting to the parking area. It was a sold out game and the crowd was ruckus. I have fond memories of seeing the Montreal Canadiens play when I was a youngster. Colin and Chelsea enjoyed this game too. The action was intense and the speed and power of the game are astounding to see from so close to the ice.
The Blackhawks are a fairly average team this year but they out-hustled Colorado all afternoon. They got a 2-0 lead and then held on to win the game in the end, 2-1. Colorado scored with a few minutes left in the game, then Chicago had a couple penalties to kill to keep the Avalanche from tying it up. In the last two minutes, Colorado pulled their goalie to get a two-man advantage. Fortunately, the Blackhawks defense came through with some intense play and the goalie, Patrick Lalime (player of the game), made some huge and difficult saves. The crowd was on its feet and cheering like mad during this frantic ending. Wow. Good stuff.
Based on how much fun this game was, I'd like to see another game or two in the future.
Player of the Game - Patrick Lalime
