Field Museum Trip #2
Mom and Dad arrived in Chicago on Tuesday after a lengthy delay due to the weather here. Thankfully, it was a direct flight with no chance of missing a connection.
On the first full day of their visit they chose to go to The Field Museum. Even though we had just visited there 9 days ago, I knew we had much more to see. We parked beneath Soldier Field (the Bears Stadium) after driving through the heart of the city and seeing some of the sights.
We walked through the Egyptian tomb again but this time I had a chance to learn and see more. Last time, I had missed all the mummified cats, falcons, vultures and other animals!!
Then we walked through the animal exhibits some of which have been there for over 100 years! The animal below, a saiga, looks more like a creation of Jim Hensen than anything else.
We ended the day by giving Mom and Dad a good dose of real Chicago traffic on I-90. I could have done without that but it could have been worse.
For dinner we ate at a good local Chinese restaurant, then came home for a game of Rummy Royal. Grandma cleaned up despite not being able to play the Jack, Queen, King, and Ace of Hearts in one round!! (Chelsea had thrown out the 10 of Hearts)
