Field Museum Visit

Our friends Sarah and Jon, and their two daughters Emma and Sahale, visited us this weekend. They were attending a wedding in Wisconsin and traveling various other places in the midwest/east this summer. On Monday, all eight of us made a visit (our first) to the highly regarded Field Museum in Chicago.

It's an overwhelming place and we barely scratched the surface of what this museum has to offer. That's okay. We'll be back. It is as good as advertised. Below is a quick photo I took while leaving the building. This is Sue. of course, the most famous dinosaur in the world. Sue was named after its finder, an archaeologist names Sue. I'm not sure they know the gender of the dinosaur. Anyway, she's known to be the most complete dinosaur (T. rex) ever discovered or some such claim to fame. Impressive indeed... And, in the foreground, are two large present-day mammals (sorry - couldn't help it).

After about three hours of checking out various exhibits at the Field Museum, we were all ready to breathe some fresh air, even if it was almost 90 degrees. Here is one more of these colorful and educational planets that are scattered around the museum campus.
