Storm Castle Hike

CJ and Storm Castle (background)

To help Chelsea prepare for her upcoming summer camp where she will be doing some strenuous overnight hiking trips, I decided to try a moderately difficult local hike to the summit of Storm Castle. This mountain is located between Bozeman and Big Sky on the east side of Route 191. The round trip hike is about 5 miles but it has a significant elevation gain of 1,900 feet.

This trail was nearly a constant climb upward but switchbacks made it a very reasonable pitch. It was quite warm - maybe 80 degrees and sunny again, of course. We started the hike at about 2:30pm with two Camelbaks nearly full of water. We needed most of this water due to the heat.

Magnificent Views on the Rise to the Summit
