Dunedin to Te Anau

Having some blogger issues so trying this entry using iPhone instead. So I won't be writing much to go along with the photos.

First photo is a view of Dunedin from our hotel. Not too shabby.

2 - train station in Dunedin. Famous building of Flemish Renaissance style.

3 - waterfall in the Catlins area. Walked through beautiful rainforest to get here

4 - Catlins coastline

5 - Everyone's favorite: the yellow-eyed penguin. Now we have seen 3 of this rarest species!

6 - this is Curio Bay, nearly the southernmost piece of land on the South Island. What you see in this photo are 170 million year old petrified logs and stumps. This is about 100 million years older than the fjords we are to visit tomorrow!

7 - the hazards of driving in NZ. 2,000 sheep crossing the road right in front of us.

8 - after arriving in Te Anau after a long day in the car, Laurie and I went for nice run along the shoreline. Spectacular.

9 - Lake Te Anau at sunset.
