Guilin - final images

One more photo from Reed Flute Cave:

It was now time for dinner. This was the infamous dinner where we picked our duck (alive) and they weighed it for us before preparing it for our meal. Laurie lost her appetite when I ladled the duck head with bill out of the broth. Needless to say, this meal has given Laurie a good story to tell for the rest of our lives!

At this point, the culture shock was full-on. And, on top of that, the jet lag had caught up to us and we were all COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED. Nonetheless, there was more on the itinerary! In hindsight, we probably should have just gone back to the hotel.

This boat ride was called the Two Rivers Four Lakes Cruise and it is a popular thing to do in Guilin at night.

The next morning, Wu drove us to the dock for the boat ride I have been looking forward to for decades - the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. We liked our driver so much we just had to get a photo of him with Colin.

Wu - thanks for being a highlight of our stay in Guilin.
