The Edge of Another Storm
Today, Tom, Lori and I headed to the mountain in the early car. We poked around Elk Park and the Lone Peak Triple before deciding to take another tram run. The line was only about 10 minutes long but visibility was questionable. When we got to the summit, the wind was weak and the temperature was reasonable (15 or so?). Instead of repeating yesterday's run in Liberty Bowl, I decided to "guide" Tom and Lori down Marx. Lori was clearly ready to handle it. She did very well despite the tough visibility and the snow was really, really good on the top half.
We then headed to Dakota to show Lori this totally different part of the ski area. It was actually quite nice with some snow starting to pile up in the cracks. By this time, however, it was after noon and we needed to head back to the base to meet Laurie, Colin and Chelsea at the Pinnacle Restaurant for lunch.

As we ate lunch in the same corner location, it began to really snow hard and I was getting antsy to slam my lunch and get out on the slopes. This was our last day after all. We noodled around Swifty runs and Ramcharger runs for the remainder of the afternoon. Tom, Colin and I had 5 runs on Ramcharger between 4 and 5 pm as this was "Sunset Saturday" where they keep this one lift open for an extra hour. We skied Wounded Knee twice and Blackfoot once and a couple groomers in between. By 5:10pm when we got to the base, our legs were beat from a full day of good skiing.
We ended the day by relaxing at Moonlight Lodge, our favorite apres place in Big Sky. As we sat there, I stared outside at the coming storm. For kicks, we checked the weather report to see the latest forecast. It looks like Big Sky will be getting 9-17" in the next 24 hours!!!!!!
Hmmm...
Guess I'd better stay one more day. Stay tuned.
