An Unexpected Bluebird Day
The kids decided to take today off. Colin was worn out from a full day of powder on Challenger and Chelsea had some homework to do. Thankfully, Laurie was eager to get on the slopes and the sunny morning didn't hurt the cause.
Elk Park was half groomed and both sides of the trail were great. Laurie had a work call at 11:45 so I figured I 'd ski for an hour by myself before our scheduled lunch at the Pinnacle. So, I skied Tippy's, rode Swifty, skied to Challenger, rode Challenger, skied Moonlight/Bad Dog, rode Iron Horse, traversed all the way to the base of Big Sky, and then rode Ramcharger to the Pinnacle restaurant. To people who know the mountain, that's quite a bit of area to cover. It took just under 1 hour.
Jim would be proud as I did every run without stopping. The toughest part was Moonlight to Bad Dog. Truth be told, I stopped to check my watch once to be sure I had enough time to do Bad Dog/Iron Horse before lunch. For some reason I felt fresh today and the beautiful weather was a nice change from yesterday's blizzard.
Here's a nice shot of Laurie at the top of Africa:
