Yellowstone Park Foundation

Today (Tuesday), Laurie and I met with the Yellowstone Park Foundation in downtown Bozeman. We have been giving to this organization for several years now but we are interested in possibly contributing in a more significant way in the near future. We met with the new Executive Director to see what would be involved with being on the Advisory Council of YPF, continuing a conversation that I started over a year ago. It was an excellent meeting so we'll see what happens. The Advisory Council works with the Board of Directors to determine the types of projects that the Foundation will support in the park. We may be called on to help with fundraising efforts and provide advice regarding proposed projects within the park.

Currently, the Foundation supports many projects within the park including:

  • Design and construction of a visitor education center at Old Faithful

  • Yellowstone Trails Fund to restore the park's most traveled trails

  • Yellowstone Fisheries Fund to improve scientific understanding of the native cutthroat trout populations

  • Yellowstone Archive Fund to provide for the curation of the park's extensive museum collection

  • Wolverine Conservation Study

  • Wolf Project

This is just a sampling of the projects that are supported by the Foundation. Laurie and I are very excited about being more involved with the organization and its mission. To be continued...
