Photography Hike #2
Colin and I had such a good time on the last "Photography Hike" that we decided to do one more before leaving Big Sky. The chosen trail was another drainage area in the NW corner of Yellowstone NP; this one was called the Fawn Pass Trailhead leading to Fan Creek (we were not going all the way to the pass).
We started this hike at 6:45am, a bit later than the last one. I'm not sure if it was because of this later start or we were just unlucky today but we did not see any large mammals this time. On part of the trail, it seemed like prime bear habitat but along Fan Creek it really seemed like we should see some elk or at least one moose.
It was still a gorgeous hike with perfect weather, starting off at about 46 degrees and ending at about 75 degrees. With wildflowers still fairly abundant, today's big show was put on by the butterflies. They were everywhere and we could not stop taking pictures of them on photogenic flowers.
I got my feet wet trying to cross this stream on the way out. Oh well. He's probably had more practice lately.
