Colin and Andre!!!

After our fantastic time at the US Open this year, Colin decided to write a letter to Andre Agassi. While Colin managed to get some autographs from top players in the world, the one he wanted the most was a bit difficult to get. Not deterred, Colin thought he might sign the photograph we took of him with the Andre's likeness outside Armstrong stadium.
Colin sent his hand-written letter and this 8" x 10" photo to Andre in the hopes that he might sign it. I told Colin not to expect anything in return of course. Andre must receive thousands of these sorts of requests.
Incredibly, after one short week or so Colin received a package in the mail from Andre himself. He was stunned! I am STILL stunned! How amazing is this?!
How's that for something to treasure forever? I'm thinking that I should send my photo now (see previous post)!

Persistence pays!
Kudos to Colin. Something to treasure for a lifetime indeed!
And a life lesson...sometimes you think 'Ah, s/he's too big/famous/mobbed to care, and then if you just ask politely anyway, you get an audience. Most impressive to me is what happens when you call your congressman or senator. If you are a constituent, you are invariably treated well, asked questions, and often there is followup. I have written Sens. Byrd and Rockefeller many times about issues; every time there is a written reply, which some staffer took great care to prepare. Perhaps Chelsea learned this in her week in DC - all politics is local, and if you are a constituent, you really do count.
Anyway, that is just fantastic that you took the chance, Colin. Keep taking chances! It won't always pay off, but sometimes it will! (I think we 'fishermen' learn the lesson pretty well, on average!)
