A Few Final Images from Prague
On the final morning before leaving Prague, I went for one more walk in this amazing city. The Memorial to the Victims of Communism, a short distance from my hotel, is a haunting art piece. The political history in this country and region, especially in the 20th century, is quite tragic and sad. Visiting the Czech Republic has been different than many other places I've visited in Europe because of this history. The country has really changed dramatically in the past 25 years but the wounds inflicted by the totalitarian state are still quite evident today. This memorial really demonstrates that observation.
The Memorial to the Victims of Communism
I decided to use my last tram ticket and rode a few different trams around town. It's a really efficient system to get around Prague and see little nooks and crannies of the city. I jumped off one tram behind the Castle and ended up on a nice nature walk right in the city! I then walked to the lower end of the castle to a very ancient vineyard with a wine bistro with killer city views. I think we would need a lifetime to discover all the subtle charms of this place.
After my walk, Tom and I got the rental car, came back to get Lori at the hotel, and we're on our way to Cesky Krumlov.
